Building a community in which people commit themselves to Jesus Christ in worship, spiritual growth and service

Outreach

UNITED METHODIST MEN (UMM)

The purpose of UMM is to reach men with a credible offer of the Gospel and equip all as spiritual leaders for their families, church, work, and community. Members of the UMM participate in a variety of activities such as cook outs, retreats/outings, church softball team, book reviews, and monthly breakfast meetings. They support: PADS, FISH, camp scholarships, Promise Keepers, youth mission trips, Scouting and help with the Fiesta Days fundraiser. All men are welcome to join or visit the men's group.

"To the man
who finds meaning in his church and is drawn to its fellowship,
whose life is packed full of activity and obligations,
who struggles with loneliness or meaningless tasks,
who is juggling jobs and family and trying to be faithful to both,
who seems overburdened with the traditional man's role of provider and
protector who feels he has gifts which are wasted or
undeveloped, whoneeds a supportive community to affirm his own
sense of purpose and commitment to God ...."

We knit or crochet prayer shawls for members of the congregation, community, or world who could use a physical symbol of God’s love in their lives. We also create white baptismal blankets for each baby baptized at First United Methodist Church in recognition of a new brother or sister in Christ coming into our family.

If you want to participate, please contact me. If you know how to knit or crochet and want patterns or fellowship, contact me. If you don’t know how to do either but want to learn, contact me! Roberta Smith

Altar Flowers…Transformed into small arrangements and taken to those who are home-bound or in need of a special smile from God…

Many of our church members are home bound and in nursing care. They are not able to come to worship on a regular basis due to their physical limitations. Our team has been called to bring God’s love and healing to our home-bound members with personal visits that include a basket of flowers, prayers, and smiles in a beautiful way.

We offer training in flower arranging as well as flower delivery. We work closely with our church office and pastors to keep abreast of recent changes to our folks that we visit on a regular basis.
